The University of New England is an independent, coeducational university with two distinctive campuses in two Maine coastal cities. The University Campus is located on a beautiful site in Biddeford, Maine, where the Saco River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The Westbrook College Campus, in Portland, is designated a national historic district and is quintessential New England, with a central green surrounded by classic brick buildings. The University has more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in health sciences, natural sciences, human services, business, education and the liberal arts. The University also includes Maine's only medical school, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, which emphasizes the education of primary care physicians. Total enrollment is about 3,700.

U.S. News & World Report has recognized UNE as one of the best regional universities in the Northeast, has ranked the Physician Assistant Program among the top 25 in the nation, and has recognized the College of Osteopathic Medicine for educational excellence in primary care, geriatrics and rural medicine.

University Campus in Biddeford, Maine
Enjoying the ocean comes naturally to students at UNE. The University Campus in Biddeford has more than 4,000 feet of ocean frontage at the mouth of the Saco River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Students at the University Campus find some of the best resources in the nation for studying the natural sciences, health sciences and osteopathic medicine. State-of-the-art facilities include the Harold Alfond Center for the Health Sciences and the Marine Science Education and Research Center, which houses our Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center.

Westbrook College Campus, Portland, Maine
With 175 years of education and tradition, this historic New England campus in suburban Portland, Maine is home of the College of Health Professions, which is a national leader in integrated, interdisciplinary health and healing education, training, research and practice. The College of Health Professions offers undergraduate programs in dental hygiene and nursing and graduate programs in nurse anesthesia, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, and social work. The campus has state-of-the-art teaching and computer facilities, including the Clinical Simulation Program, which features high-tech patient simulators; and is also home to the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Also home to UNE's Art Gallery, the Maine Womens Writers Collection and more, the campus has a friendly, student -centered atmosphere. Portland is one of the nation's most livable small cities with an incredible natural environment, friendly people, arts and entertainment, as well as major facilities for internships and clinicals.
