Conversion Engineer, Appraisal & Tax

The Conversion Engineer is primarily responsible for converting and migrating client’s existing data from their legacy system to Tyler’s applications. The Conversion Engineer simultaneously works on multiple projects performing data analysis and development of programs/scripts of varying complexities. The resource provides support to Tyler staff as well as clients to provide high-quality and accurate converted data to allow Tyler software functions to execute as expected for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute procedures to convert client data using stored procedures, functions, and SQL scripts in an Oracle environment
  • Learn, use, and maintain an established set of internal tools and other technologies as necessary
  • Collaborate with implementation staff and clients to develop data conversion procedures that meet client business rules
  • Perform basic data analysis to identify data patterns and anomalies
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of conversion logic
  • Perform data verification and balancing of values between old and new systems
  • Create and update conversion logic to resolve client issues in test environments
  • Stay current with Oracle technologies and current database concepts
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Ability to work well within a deadline-oriented development structure
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong technical abilities and desire to learn new things
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skill, teamwork and customer service skills Technical Knowledge Requirements
  • Proficient use of Oracle SQL Developer
  • Create and maintain complex queries in Oracle
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot conversion procedures using PL/SQL
  • Development experience with the .NET Framework and COBOL is a plus, but not required
  • Able to write and maintain stored procedures and functions is a plus, but not required
